Sheel Vardhan Singh takes charge as new CISF DG
Sheel Vardhan Singh, an IPS officer, took over as the new director general of the CISF, a central paramilitary force that protects the country's major civil airports and vital installations, on Monday.
The troops presented him with a ceremonial guard of honour before he took command of the force at its headquarters on Lodhi Road in New Delhi.
Last week, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the order naming Mr. Singh as the new CISF DG.
Mr. Singh is the 29th commander of the 1.62 lakh-strong force that was established in 1969. It currently protects 64 civil airports as well as a number of important installations in the country's aerospace and nuclear domains, the Delhi Metro, and historical monuments such as the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal.
He is on the job until August 2023.
