SC Allows NLSIU To Conduct NLAT Tomorrow, Restrains From Declaring Results And Making Admissions

A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan allowed NLSIU to conduct NLAT 2020 tomorrow. The bench did not give permission to declare results and make admissions. Earlier a plea was filed by through Advocates Sughosh Subramyam and Vipin Nair states that the sudden decision of NLSIU to conduct a separate entrance exam has thrown the aspirations of CLAT into a frenzy and it also violates fundamental rights (Article 14, 21). Several absurd conditions were imposed on students willing to appear for this examination, so every candidate is not capable to fulfill those conditions. The decision seems to be taken without proper application of mind, ignoring poor, less privileged candidates. Home proctored exams give opportunities to students to chest easily. The institution has violated rules made by consortium.
Admission notice was released on September 9 and the date of examination is September 12, students did not get much time to mentally prepare for the exam during this global pandemic.
