Saket Bar Association Writes To CJI NV Ramana Seeking Exemption Of Advocates From Paying Toll Tax Citing Financial Crunch

The Saket Bar Association has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana, requesting an exemption from the toll tax that advocates and lawyers pay because they are "judicial officials" and are engaged in public service.
In a letter dated August 21, 2021, President Karnail Singh and Secretary of State Dhir Singh Kasana addressed the Chief Justice of India The letter stated that due to the continuing pandemic, the legal profession has been seen severely affected economically, making it increasingly difficult for them to pay toll taxes while moving around the country based on their professional activities.
