Sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib: SC throws out plea to transfer case outside Punjab
The apex court has dismissed a plea by members of the controversial Dera sacha Sauda, which is headed by criminal Gurmeet ram Rahim, to transfer the sacrilege cases outside of Punjab.
Members of the group were charged with sacrilege for tearing the Guru Granth Sahib and throwing the torn parts on the ground. The members moved to the apex court to transfer the case trial to another state taking the defence that they won’t get justice and a fair trial would not be exercised in Punjab. On top of it, they were facing threats to their life in the state.
But, the court said that there was no reason to transfer the trial out of the state.
