President appoints Prashant Kumar Mishra as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court
Following the retirement of Justice Parappillil Ramakrishnan Nair Ramachandra Menon, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, President Ram Nath Kovind, in the exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution, appointed Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, the senior-most Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, to perform the duties of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from June 1, 2021. On Monday, the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, issued a notification in this regard. Justice Mishra, BSc, LLB, began practising law in the District Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court, and Chhattisgarh High Court in Civil, Constitutional, Revenue, and Criminal matters on September 4, 1987. Constitutional and civil law were his areas of expertise. He worked for the state of Chhattisgarh as an Additional Advocate General and Advocate General. On December 10, 2009, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, then on November 28, 2014, he was appointed as a Permanent Judge.
