Plea to reopen Baidyanath Temple: Whole world is suffering, why should we give priority for this? Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant priority listing for a plea regarding the reopening of the Baidyanath temple at Deogarh in Jharkhand.
A Bench chaired by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said that since the whole world is suffering from COVID-19, there was no immediate need to hear the plea.
"Why should we give priority to this? The whole world is suffering," said CJI Ramana.Advocate Prashant Kumar, appearing for the petitioner, responded by stating that cases of COVID are low in Jharkhand.
"Yes, yes, there is no COVID you know," the CJI responded while disallowing the mentioning for urgent listing.
