No interference needed when adult woman married as per her choice and decides to convert: Calcutta high court

In its recent judgment, Calcutta high court highlighted the point, that if an adult marries as per her own choice and decides to convert and not return to her paternal house. Then, there not shall not be any interference in the following matter.
The bench comprising of Justice Sanjib Banerjee and justice Arjit Banerjee heard a plea filed by a father alleging that his daughter, Pallabi Sarkar who is of age 19 had gone missing on since 15th of sept,2020.
According to the report, which was filed by the officer in charge of murutia police station, a person named Asmaul Shaikh had married the petitioner’s daughter. The report also contained a copy of statement which was rendered by Pallabi before the judicial magistrate under Section 164 CrPC, which referred the point that she had a relationship with Asmaul and she was willingly living with him. In contrast to that, her father claimed that her daughter made a statement which against her own wishes.
In response to his allegations, the court ordered that Pallabi should be brought before the senior most additional district judge and the petitioner as well. The order also mentioned that the statements should be passed on free will.
The court ordered that that the father-daughter should have a talk between them, and in meantime there should be one else in the room including Pallabi’s husband.
Now, the father has been directed to file a short report when the matter will be appearing on 24th of dec,2020.
