MJ Akbar Vs. Priya Ramani: Delhi Court seeks transfer of the case

On Tuesday, a Delhi Court, which was hearing former Minister of State for External Affairs, MJ Akbar's defamation case against journalist Priya Ramani, for two years, transferred it to the court of the principal district and sessions judge. MJ Akbar had filed the defamation case after Ms. Ramani had accused him of harassment in her tweets.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Vishal Pahuja, who made the announcement said, "As the present matter is not filed against Member of Parliament(MP)/Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA), hence cannot be tried by this court and needs to be transferred to the competent court of jurisdiction."
The case, which was in its final stage, had its last hearing on September 19.
