In 2020, 398 violent attacks were carried out by ‘anti-national elements,' of which 240 were carried out by Left-wing extremists, 76 by jihadi terrorists, 45 by northeast insurgents, and 37 by ‘other terrorists.'
According to the section on ‘crimes by anti-national elements' in the NCRB's 2020 report on ‘Crime in India,' 80 civilians and 73 security personnel were martyred in anti-national confrontations/attacks in 2020, while 55 Maoists, 82 jihadi terrorists, and 37 other terrorists were also killed.Jihadi terrorists also managed to injure 32 civilians and 22 members of the security forces. Counter-terrorism forces, on the other hand, ensured the elimination of 82 jihadi terrorists, while 17 others were apprehended. Left-wing extremists were responsible for 441 cases involving 240 attacks in 2020, including 119 on police stations and camps, four on railway infrastructure, one on telephone exchanges or towers, five on economic establishments, and 111 on other establishments. They were responsible for the deaths of 61 civilians and 37 security personnel. Left-wing extremists were also killed in 55 incidents, with 9 of the victims being female cadres. A total of 554 Maoists were apprehended, with 327 surrendering.
