Govt. gives Infosys a deadline of September 15



On Monday ,two meetings were held with infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh and other Infosys representatives in North block after the portal continued to be unavailable for two days consecutively.

As the glitches on the the Income Tax Department new e filing portal continued, finance minister Nirmala sitharaman gave project vendor of Infosys a deadline of September 15 to solve all the issues faced by the taxpayer.

Sitharaman asks for an explanation from the infosys on the continuing issues faced by the taxpayers and showed disappointment and concerns of the government as well as the taxpayers about the continuous glitches in the e-filing portal even after two and half months of its launch.

New tax portal , operated by the Bengaluru based software major, launched on June 7 started facing problems within hours of its launch- like inability to produce OTP for Aadhar validtion , failure to link old data for past return, password generation glitches and problems in filing Returns.

A statement by the Income-Tax Department said that parekh explained that he and his team are doing everything possible to enhance the proper functioning of the portal. Pravin Rao COO of Infosys is personally looking in this project. He also assured that Infosys is functioning expeditiously to enable a Glitch free experience to the taxpayers on the portal.
