Father Stan Swamy moves Special NIA Court for bail

An accused in the Bhima Koregaon case, Father Stan Swamy has filed a bail application before the Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Mumbai.
According to his lawyer, Swamy is suffering from Parkinson's disease, proved by the fact that he was shifted to the prison hospital recently and had submitted applications requesting the jail authorities to provide him a sipper or straw as he was unable to drink water or liquids.
He has also stated that there is no risk of escaping the bail as he did not get arrested during the two years of the investigation, and there is no evidence that Swamy was present near the site of the incident.
The Special Court has directed the jail authorities to report back after confirming that Swamy needs a stripper or straw for drinking any liquids.
The next hearing is on December 4, 2020.
