DELHI WITNESSES COLDEST OCTOBER IN 58 YEARS
31 oct 2020
Indian Metrological Department (IMD)
Reported that october was the coldest month in the past 58 years.
Minimum Temperature of 19.1 degree celsius was recorded whereas in this october it was 17.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest since 1962, when it was 16.9 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
The head Kuldeep Srivastava of the IMD's regional forecasting center, said that the absence of cloud cover was the reason.
Clouds trap some of the outgoing infrared radiation and radiate it back downward, warming the ground.Clam wind which forms mist and fog is the second reason.
Delhi had recorded its all-time low temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on October 31, 1937, Kuldeep said.
