Delhi court: Dismisses plea seeking registration of separate FIR in connection with JNU violence in January

Considering the matter that, it was already taken under investigation by Delhi police. The Delhi court has dismissed a plea seeking registration of FIR in connection with the mob attack on teachers, students as well as the staff members of the JNU in the campus.
The plea was preferred by JNU professor Suchitra Sen under section 156(3) Cr.P.C. who had sustained injuries during the mob attack. But, it was dismissed by the chief metropolitan magistrate on the ground that the matter is already into consideration.
Moreover, the court directed that, the Delhi police had filed a status report in the matter, informing that its crime branch who was already conducting the investigation. The crime branch stated that the investigation was under progress and all efforts were being made to complete the investigation in the time bound manner.
The court held that, the case was sensitive in nature. Therefore, it needed a special branch to investigate the matter thoroughly and expeditiously.
