A contempt petition has been filed in the apex court against the Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind bobde, for riding a high end motorcycle without taking any precautionary measures.
The contempt against him is about the violation of court under the safety of motorcycles mentioned in the CMV rule 123. The petition was filed based on a picture which went viral on Twitter where CJI was seen riding a high end motorcycle without helmet and mask.
It has been submitted that the CJI was not wearing helmet and hence, it is an offence under 129 of motor vehicle act.
The petitioner further challenged that the motorcycle was illegally registered with Chhattisgarh Durg RTO for keeping in Nagpur, Maharashtra in violation of Section 40 of motor vehicle act.
