China asks residents of two cities to stay at home
After more than 3000 people tested positive in the past week in a Covid-19 outbreak, the authorities in China have asked residents in two cities south of Beijing to stay home for seven days.
The cities of Shijiazhuang and Xingtai in Hebei province are restricting people and gatherings have been banned.
China does not include asymptomatic patients in the confirmed count. Hebei reported 14 confirmed cases in 24 hours and 197 asymptomatic patients. The total tally is 137.
Workers from Hebei are required to show proof of employment in Beijing and a negative Covid test before entering.
Beijing has had 31 cases over the same period, though no new ones in the past 24 hours.
