China welcomed US President Joe Biden's proposal to exchange 80 million COVID-19 vaccine doses with other countries on Tuesday, but Biden’s statement of Beijing and Moscow trying to sway the world with their vaccines was stated as “despicable."
On Monday, Mr. Biden told reporters in Washington, D.C., "The United States of America will deliver 80 million doses overseas over the next six weeks. By the end of June, who accounted for 13% of all vaccines developed in the United States. This would be five times the amount of vaccination doses that any other government has shared to date. More than Russia and China, each of which has donated 15 million doses. There's a lot of talk about Russia and China using vaccinations to influence the world. “We want to lead the world with this example of American invention, creativity, and basic decency,”
In response to Biden's announcement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday, "If the US will deliver on its promise of vaccine assistance and concrete assistance to developing countries, we will welcome it. US continues to make a problem out of China on vaccination, which is despicable and calls into question the true purpose and inspiration of US policy,'
