Chhattisgarh High Court dismisses petition against Aamir Khan for his remarks on "growing intolerance"

A single-judge Bench of Justice Sanjay K Agrawal of the Chhattisgarh High Court dismissed a petition soliciting action against actor Aamir Khan for his comments on intolerance in the country after 2014.
The petitions were dismissed and declared as without merit and substance.
The petition was filed by advocate Dipak Diwan for Aamir Khan's remarks on 'growing intolerance'. He claimed that the actor had attempted to promote religious enmity between various groups.
In 2015 Aamir had stated that he felt "alarmed" by incidents of intolerance and that his wife Kiran Rao suggested that they should leave the country. He had also said that he feels insecure as political parties don't take a stand. The Magistrate had earlier dismissed the complaint as there was no sanction, which caused Diwan to approach the High Court. The High court upheld the Magistrate's decision along with dismissing the plea as it had no substance.
