Bombay High Court Mulls Guidelines For Reporting On Criminal Investigations
29 oct 2020
On Thursday, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice G S Kulkarni of the Bombay High Court which is hearing a batch of Public Interest Litigations(PILs) seeking regulation of "media trial" in the connection to journalism during the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, stated, "We would like the media not to cross boundaries."
The Chief Justice explained the ill-effects of unregulated media reporting on pending cases, its impact on innocent people, and how it could also influence the reporting officers.
The court will consider laying down guidelines for media reporting on a criminal investigation, keeping within its boundaries while deciding on the issues.
The court will now consider the case on November 6.
