Arnab Goswami remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, till November 18 in the case of abetment to suicide

Arnab Goswami, Editor-in chief of the republic tv was remanded by a court at Alibag in Maharashtra to 14 days of judicial custody on the grounds of abetment to suicide.
Arnab, was picked by a team of Raigad police from his residence. He was seen being pushed into the police van and claimed that he was assaulted by police before being taken away. He was arrested under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) and Section 34( acts done by person in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC. The architect and his mother committed suicide in 2018 over alleged non-payment of died by Republic TV.
It is alleged that the architect left a suicide note stating that he had taken this extreme decision on account of payments due to them not being cleared by the owners of three companies- television journalist Arnab Goswami, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX and Nitesh Sarada of smartworks.
Meanwhile, union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Amit shah, S Jaishankar, smriti Irani etc. condemned the arrest of Goswami as an attack on press freedom.
