20 fishermen to be released by Pakistan today:

A week after the Pakistan Marine Security Agency (PMSA) killed an Indian fisherman in a shootout in the middle of the sea on November 6, Islamabad would free 20 fishermen held in Landhi jail in Karachi on Sunday and give them over to Indian authorities the next day at the Wagah border.

The fishermen would be released from Gujarat's Gir Somnath and Porbandar districts. India has released ten Pakistani fishermen imprisoned in Gujarat on November 2 before the mid-sea firing incident aboard the fishing boat Jal Pari.

On November 6, the PMSA allegedly chased and fired upon Jal Pari, a fishing boat with six fishermen on board, when it was fishing off the Gujarat coast in the Arabian Sea.

Shreedhar Chamre, a fisherman from Palghar in Maharashtra, was allegedly killed in the shooting, while the skipper of the fishing boat, Dilip Solanki, was injured. Six other people on the boat were allegedly kidnapped and deported to Pakistan.

The fishermen were apprehended by the PMSA while deep sea fishing off the Gujarat coast for allegedly crossing over to the Pakistan side of the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
